Windows 7 upgrade

windows-7-logoMore and more people seem to be egger to upgrade to Windows 7 RC1 from XP or Vista. If you are running XP there is now direct upgrade path, but if you are running Vista there is. There is however another catch if your Vista install language differ from the install language of your Windows 7 DVD you will get an error. But there is an relatively easy fix for this problem you have to change the Default and InstallLanguage of your system, follow these steps bellow to do the change.

  1. Go to Microsoft Resources find the language you want to change to, write down the LCID (Culture Identifier) without the initial 0x in front.
  2. Open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language.
  4. Change the Default and InstallLanguage registry settings to what you wrote down in step 1.
  5. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Nls\Language.
  6. Repeat step 4.
  7. Logout then Login to your sytem to complete the change.

You should now be able to install Windows 7 (beta, rc).
